Trauma Part 1: The Trauma of Sexual Abuse

More people are reporting sexual abuse in the world today although in most cultures it is considered something that is not to be discussed. Sexual Abuse is very damaging to the person and will affect them for the rest of their life. It is surprising that it has taken this long to have more helping organizations to recognize and admit the traumatic experience that sexual abuse is.

Sexual abuse happens too frequently and to those that are its victims the experience is something that they will never forget. The most important thing that anyone can do is to find help to deal with the abuse. Trauma is a serious injury or shock to the body that impacts all aspects of a person. Sexual abuse changes how a person sees themselves sexually, physically, emotionally, spiritually and even intellectually. Sexual abuse does more damage than you can ever see with the naked eye. In the next few weeks we will be going more in depth to the different components of the trauma of sexual abuse.
